Paraphimosis

Description

Paraphimosis is the inability to pull the foreskin back over the head of the penis after it has been retracted in an uncircumcised male. The foreskin acts as a tourniquet and decreases the blood supply to the head of the penis. Paraphimosis is a medical emergency and treatment should be sought immediately.

Symptoms

Symptoms include pain and swelling of the retracted foreskin and head of the penis.
