Orbital mass (growth near the eye)


Description

Tumor in the orbit area. The orbit contains the eyeball, eye muscles, the optic nerve and blood vessels. The majority of tumors that arise in the orbit are benign.

Symptoms

Eye pain, pain with eye movement, eye bulging, double vision.

Tests

Common tests used for diagnosis and treatment

Workup:
A history and physical exam will be performed. A CT scan and/or MRI can define the size and exact location of a mass. A biopsy can determine the type of tumor.

Tests:
CT Scan, Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)

Ophthalmology, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery

Treatment

Depends on the size and type of tumor, but may include: chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and/or surgery.
